ISOC India Chennai is now an ICANN at-Large structure. Chapter members who have an interest in Domain Name Policy issues are invited to learn more about ICANN and at-Large and about their current programs and issues.
We will contribute in the areas of the ccTLDs in India and in the area of IDNs as an at-Large structure. Internet is taking shape as a Multilingual Internet with IDNs -domain names in local scripts- soon to come (Also, email addresses in local scripts).
Here is the IGF Hyderabad presentation by Dewit Bekele Manager, African Regional Bureau. What he has talked about about multilingualism exactly applies to India with its 22 official languages.
